COMMONHOLD NOW is a grassroots campaign to raise awareness and advocate for the widespread of Commonhold as a simpler, fairer and transparent alternative to traditional residential leasehold.
We actively support and are committed to strengthening the recent introduction of the Leasehold & Freehold Reform Bill as steps towards Commonhold.
COMMONHOLD NOW are working towards a tenure that provides choice for those in existing leasehold flats, or new-build private managed estates to convert towards Commonhold.
This is a system widely used across the world including countries in Europe, America, Canada and Australia.
Working together, we can simplify homeownership with reforms.
A 2023 Bill was introduced to the House of Commons on 27 Nov 2023. The Bill's second reading is scheduled for 11 Dec 2023. The Select Committee has heard oral and written evidence.
The Bill applies to England and Wales.
It would make long-term changes intended to improve homeownership for leaseholders and freeholders.
